D-Link Wireless not working
I just installed the latest Beta and cannot get wireless going and the wizard/tool doesn't recognize the card though the hardware detection tool does.
The card is a D-Link DWL-G510 and worked with Win2K and Puppy, both OS's that were on the PC before I pulled that hard drive and installed a larger one for this distro installation. I have tried different inf files, XP, ME, 98 & etc with no success, it doesn't see the hardware. Marvell chip. Any suggestions? |

Re: D-Link Wireless not working
ok, I'm having some issues here tracking the info. From what I can find, the legacy support for ralink cards has been dropped and only in kernel stuff is maintained.
http://rt2x00.serialmonkey.com/phpBB/vie...f=7&t=5237 As far as using the ndiswrapper, make sure that dkms-ndiswrapper is installed. The other option is to install an older kernel (like the 2.6.30.5) for which the dkms-rt61sta in the repo still works (it won't work with newer kernels and nobody is working on this code anymore. edit: The old 2.6.29 and 30 kernels were pulled from the repo. I'll get them back in so you can try either. |

Re: D-Link Wireless not working
OK, Thanks. I guess I'll have to do a tear down and move the PC to where I can access the LAN card.
With your mention of ralink support being dropped I'll have to see if I can access wireless running live CD on my laptop with ralink wireless built in. I dual boot with WinXP and PCLOS on that. |

Re: D-Link Wireless not working
only the r61sta (non-pci) driver is obsolete. The more recent ralink cards are indeed still supported by the rt2x00 project which is now part of the kernel. Available kernel modules for ralink can be found in /lib/modules/your_kernel_version_here/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/rt2x00
Is dkms-ndiswrapper installed? |

Is dkms-ndiswrapper installed? [/quote] If it did not install when I installed the OS then no, it is not installed. When I have a chance I'll go out to the garage where that computer is located and run a search, if search is installed. If not, where would I find that file if it is installed? I have not yet had time to do a tear down so I can move the PC close enough to my router and plug in to get what is needed, if anything, to get wireless working. |

Re: D-Link Wireless not working
You can search to see if a package is installed like this:
rpm -qa | grep dkms-ndiswrapper Please check the Release Announcement before reporting any issues! Please read the Usage Rules before posting! Check out the FAQ! |
